In honor of Labor Day, KAAD is proud to present a series of stories entitled The World of Work. We’ve gathered together 14 mostly local writers and story-tellers who talk about their experiences. We cover terrible jobs, wonderful jobs, endless jobs, first jobs, unusual jobs, jobs dodged, jobs with unforgettable bosses and jobs to avoid.
Writers and story-tellers include Meryl Soto, Sue Thoms, Ron Edson, Ellen Stewart, Helen Engelhardt, Patricia Harrelson, Richard Haratani, Kim Pippa-Tonnesen, Lauralee Brown, Hoyt Cory, Toni Wagner, Sam Taylor, Carol Biederman and Christine Taylor.
The World of Work will air and stream on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, September 4th, 5th, and 6th at 1pm on 103.5 on your radio dial or stream at kaad-lp.org.

Jeanna Santalucia has been a horsewoman all her life, but only recently has become a participant in a challenging and rewarding endeavor: Trail Trials. Jeanna tells Earlene Smith and Sue Thoms all about how these trials are conducted on this week's Equestrian Arts.
Tune in to Equestrian Arts on Monday, August 23rd, Thursday, August 26th, and Monday, August 30th at 10am and on Friday at Noon to hear Jeanna Santalucia's story.
On August 12th this year, we lost Liz Sewell, community organizer and leader extraordinaire. Liz is to be remembered as one of four women who started Mother Lode Crisis Center, then guiding the organization that ultimately has become The Center for A Non-Violent Community.
For KAAD's show Contributors, Ellen Stewart interviewed Liz and fellow founders Darlene Baumgarten, Pat Cervelli and Linda DuTemple. In honor of Liz Sewell's tireless service to our community, KAAD is replaying the Contributor interviews, Parts 1-5 at Noon on Saturdays and Sundays, beginning August 21st and 22nd, running on August 28th and 29th, and concluding on Saturday, September 4th.
To mark Labor Day, we’ll be hearing stories about jobs. Terrible jobs, wonderful jobs, endless jobs, first jobs, jobs you wish you still had, unusual jobs, jobs you’re sorry you ever spent time doing, jobs where you had to do awful things to nice people, jobs with unforgettable bosses or employees.
There’s a good story there and we’d love to hear it.
Write your story or prepare to tell your story, about 5 to 7 minutes in length. Then come to our P6 studio to record it. We’ll broadcast/stream these tales on Saturday and Sunday, September 4th and 5th.
To sign up and book a recording time, send a note to info@kaad-lp.org.
Allen Aldridge joins the KAAD DJ's with his new live show Straight To The Dome.
